This program is both practical and evidence-based and suitable for practitioners with all experience levels. It has been designed to provide you with a detailed understanding of treatment. It includes a session for taking optimal bite registrations for both mandibular advancement splints and occlusal splints.

The program will be led by Dr Harry Ball, a world-leading authority on dental sleep medicine and will also feature presentations from other experts in the field.

The program will provide all the steps in making oral appliance therapy a valuable part of your practice. The program is ideal for revision and training key staff members who have an important role to play in providing this service.

8 Week Program Outline

The 8-week program is designed to give dentists the tools and knowledge needed to feel confident treating patients soon after registering for the program. On registering, you have immediate access to the program to watch and review at your leisure.  The program commences with the first webinar.

Week One to Three

First Webinar
Wednesday, 8th May 2024, 7:30 pm – 9:00 pm AEST

Topics Covered:

    • How to use the program,
    • Selecting a patient – screening for OSA/Snoring,
    • Organising a sleep study,
    • Records required for a MAS – taking a registration,
    • Preventing and managing occlusal changes,
    • Q & A,
    • Criteria for selecting a patient for the program,
    • Organising a sleep study.

Steps to be completed:

  1. Progress through the online modules,
  2. Select a patient,
  3. Organise a sleep study*,
  4. Commence the clinical steps.

*The first live webinar will cover the methods of selecting a patient and organising and interpreting a sleep study. Support is available from the experienced mentors.

Week Four

Second Webinar
Wednesday, 5th June 2024, 7:30 pm – 9:00 pm AEST

    • Presenting the results of the sleep study to the patients,
    • Fitting the appliance,
    • Titration protocol,
    • Potential side effects,
    • Q & A.

Week Five to Eight

Third Webinar
Wednesday, 3rd July 2024, 7:30 pm – 9:00 pm AEST

  • Post-fitting review of the patient.
  • Post fitting assessment,
  • MAS study,
  • Involvement of a sleep physician,
  • Combination treatments,
  • Side effects,
  • Occlusal changes,

  • Marketing.

Steps to be completed:

  1. Complete the online modules,
  2. Complete the clinical steps with your patient.
After the 8-week program concludes, your access to the online training modules and mentoring support will continue, providing you with the necessary resources to successfully incorporate dental sleep medicine into your practice.
